A Day of Rest
By Linda | February 17, 2008
Because this site is so brand new, I’ve been feverishly writing content all week that will hopefully make your visit here a worthwhile adventure. For this novice blogger 20+ posts in less than one week may be my limit!
Being that Sunday IS the day of rest, I think that I will finish (or is it start?) each week with a regular feature that will be useful, short, and (most importantly) quick to write. With that I give you (drum roll, please)…

The “Science Word of the Week” feature is intended to clarify a word (or maybe a phrase) that’s being used a lot in current science related news stories. Today’s SWOTW has turned up in various recent new stories relating to both the International Space Station and the U.S. military mission to shoot down that faulty spy satellite. That word is:
te·lem·e·try
n. The science and technology of automatic measurement and transmission of data by wire, radio, or other means from remote sources, as from space vehicles, to receiving stations for recording and analysis.
Example: NASA uses telemetry to monitor objects in space.
