It’s Elementary My Dear

By Linda | February 19, 2008

Just lately, my 9-year-old has started asking me questions about the Periodic Table of the Elements. Deciphering the periodic table is so fundamental to understanding Chemistry and virtually every other scientific discipline that I opted to buy him a good book on the subject rather than try to explain it myself. It has been a loooong time since I took Chemistry!

After some research I decided on “The Mystery of the Periodic Table” by Benjamin Wiker. Tomorrow my little science junkie turns 10 and this book will be one of his birthday gifts. I will write a review after he’s had a chance to read the book and let you know if it is a good resource and appropriate for this age group.

There are some great web sites with interactive Periodic Tables. Corrosionsource.com has a really excellent one. Just click on the individual element and all the information about that element pops up.
