What does one million look like?
By Linda | February 22, 2008
Kids are fascinated by really big numbers. In particular, ONE MILLION seems to hold a particular allure. It’s very difficult to illustrate large numbers in a way that makes sense to children. After all, most of us don’t have a million of anything just laying around. …Well, except for maybe dust particles!
Here are a couple of handy examples of ONE MILLION and a link to a website that does a fantastic job of conveying what some REALLY REALLY big numbers look like using pennies. It’s called the MegaPenny Project.

This lucite box contains 1,ooo,ooo pennies
There are approximately 1,000,000 hairs on the heads of 10 school children
